Motion is one of the most basic features of our social being. Everyday countless people travel from one place to another. Most of them travel through the public transport. Everywhere the common vehicle used as the public transport is bus. Bus, the big motor vehicle, is the source of relief for people all over the globe. These buses have their defined routes according to the requirements and limitation of each city. They have some fixed stops where they stop for people to depart and arrive. These stops are known as bus-stops. Most of the general commuters accept these places as a part of their daily life. For the convenience of the people these stops are provided with shelters known as bus shelters. Most of the dictionaries accepted world wide, define a bus shelter as the shelter provided at a bus stop to protect people against the odds of weather. This literal meaning of a bus shelter is true but looks very dry and colorless. The regular commuters have much more interesting perception about any bus shelter.
The very basic architecture of any bus shelter is a shelter with a roof and walls on three sides. Generally this is applicable world wide. Some differences are available in these shelters in terms of space and special features according to the local requirement. The walls of these shelters are made of transparent or semi-transparent materials so as to provide the commuters a clear vision of the traffic. The roof is made slanting to avoid the accumulation of rain water. Some of these shelters have seating arrangements for elderly people and pregnant ladies. These shelters are made at such places which do not come in the way of general traffic. They are designed in a way to avoid traffic rush.
Any shelter of such kind holds several subtle stories of urbane life.
They also act as a place of interaction. These are non-profit arrangements by the government organisations. People of all and every class use these places. This is one of the many gifts of the modernisation to our social structure. It is also true that these shelters have seen much technical upgradation since the time they came out. They are of much relief as they protect against the wrath of any climatic condition. Now-a-days these are being upgraded to serve physically handicapped people as well who were ignored for a long while.
Despite being non-profit arrangements, they can be a source of generating revenue. They are great spaces for the advertisement of products. The revenue gathered in turn helps the government.
